Opera files complaint — an open letter to the Web community
Over the years I have been an active participant in the ongoing fight for open and interoperable Web standards. I have always opposed those who would force proprietary technologies where open alternatives, often superior, exist. From 1994 to 1999, I worked at CERN and W3C to help make sure there were good specifications for the Web. In 1999, I joined Opera to make sure there was at least one browser that implemented those specifications correctly. We have worked hard to do that. Unfortunately Microsoft's Internet Explorer, the biggest browser of all, did not.
Today we have taken a stand. Opera has filed a formal complaint with the European Commission to force Microsoft to support open Web standards in its Web browser, Internet Explorer. We believe that Microsoft has harmed Web standards by refusing to support them; Microsoft often participates in creating Web standards, promoting them, and even promising to implement them. Despite their talent, however, they refuse to support Web standards correctly. For example, Internet Explorer is the only modern Web browser that does not support Acid2.
Opera has also requested that Microsoft frees Internet Explorer from the Windows platform. We feel that they have used their market dominating position to limit a genuine choice of browsers on the Web for their own commercial gain.
The time for action is now. The Web browser is the most important application for most of us. Developers and designers are creating more powerful Web sites and applications. But because Internet Explorer doesn't implement open and fully-developed Web standards, the work is hard and frustrating. Web designers are forced to spend time working around IE bugs rather than doing what inspires them. We seek no money from Microsoft. We would rather see Microsoft put their considerable talent and resources to work for the Web community.
To those of you who build and shape the sites and services we use everyday — and who will create those in the future — I ask for your support. You will be the ones who ultimately benefit by having a Web that works seamlessly and effortlessly across devices, browsers and is equally open to everyone. That new day is just over the horizon, and by working together, we will awaken to that dawn.

The Post 9/11 world has forever changed the notion of privacy. There are now approximately 30 million surveillance cameras in the United States generating more than 4 billion hours of footage every week. And the numbers are growing. The average American is now captured over 200 times a day, in department stores, gas stations, changing rooms, even public bathrooms. No one is spared from the relentless, unblinking eye of the cameras that are hidden in every nook and cranny of day-to-day life.
Shot entirely from the point of view of the security cameras. Adam Rifkin’s LOOK follows several interweaving, storylines over the course of a random week in a random city. LOOK is a film about the things that people do when they don’t know they’re being watched.
Based on the premise that everyone has secrets, LOOK takes us on a voyeuristic journey into the most personal parts of ordinary people’s lives. Everyone is guilty of selective deception. We all hide aspects our lives from those around us. It might be as benign as picking your nose in an empty elevator or perhaps something much darker. LOOK poses the question: Are we always alone when we think we are?
A high school English teacher tries his best to be a decent husband, a department store floor manager uses the warehouse for more than just storage, a Mini-Mart clerk has big dreams, a lawyer struggles with a sexual dilemma and sociopathic brothers ruin the day of random strangers they come in contact with. LOOK tells five private stories which unfold before the prying eye of the covert camera to chilling effect.

Even in the rain, however, they are still more glamourous than celebrity guest Rupert Everett, who turns up in a greasy pair of tracksuit bottoms and three inches of stubble, looking as if his taxi was booked to pick him up from a bin. Next to Kylie -- arriving to screams and cheers and luminous in, of course, white diamonds -- he looks like a tramp. Fires in Greece: More than 60 people dead
The fires in Greece are becoming a disaster. This NASA satelite picture (MODIS Rapid Response Team) can't show you the harm done to Greek people and their property. More than 60 people have already died and many, many more people have lost their properties, their houses, their crops, everything...
This is a very sad time for Greece :(

My name is Daniel and I live in Lima, Peru. I was at work when the earthquake started, this video is from the earthquake. It was horrible, everything was shaking violently, it was like being on a boat in the middle of the sea, things started falling down. An alarm went off and the longer it lasted, the harder it was to remain calm, I've never been through anything like this ever in my life.
I would also like to mention that we need your help. The earthquakes we have had have caused massive destruction, specially near the the south of the capital where 80% of the population has been left homeless, not to mention 400 dead and thousands of injured people. These people need water, food and something to stay warm, please contact any organization you know of to learn how you can help.

Luc Besson's Taxi is one of my favorite comedy films and guess what... I've just stumbled upon the trailer of Taxi 4!!! It'll be released in a couple of days and I can't wait seeing it :D

Burj Dubai by Imre Solt (world's tallest building)
Imre Solt shoot these videos of Burj Dubai yesterday (21/July/2007) and he did a pretty good job at showing us one of the world's tallest buildings, perhaps the greatest skyscraper in the whole world - that reminds me of Babel Tower a little bit. When Burj Dubai will be completed it will be over 800 meters. Just for the record let me tell you that the Sears Tower is 527 meters with 108 stories and the Taipei 101 is 508 meters with 101 stories...

Shrek the Third means that our big green friendly Orc (or Ogre if you prefer) returns for the second time. The donkey is here too, along with some dragon-donkeys (yeap they've mated).
